Tea
We’ll start with the toughest one. So many people who give up dairy find themselves keeping that sneaky bottle of semi-skimmed at the back of the fridge “just for tea” – but if you match your milk alternatives with the right tea, dairy-free tea is easier than you think. (We’d also recommend trying our tea without milk: you might be surprised how much you like it!)
Rice Milk
Rice milk is quite thin, so we’d recommend using more milk for stronger blends. Try it with our classic English Breakfast for a smooth, balanced brew.
Recommended blend: English Breakfast
Unsweetened Soya Milk
We recommend using Soya milk over dairy when it comes to making the perfect Matcha Latte. Whisk it up for a moment of indulgence.
Recommended blend: Matcha
Almond Milk
This is a sweet milk, and calls for a gutsy brew with a powerful flavour. 1886 Blend and Chelsea Breakfast are great options.
Recommended blends: Chelsea Breakfast & 1886 Blend
Nifty Tip
Alternatives to dairy milk can split at a high temperature (sometimes at 60°C). Warming your milk gently and adding it slowly to your cup can reduce this.

For hot chocolate we turned to the best experts we know: our customers. We asked you on Facebook what milk alternatives you used to make hot chocolate, and plenty of you had something to say about it. Here are some of our personal favourites:
Unsweetened Almond Milk
“It’s not overpowering so you can taste the hot chocolate”
Coconut Milk
“Just that little bit sweeter”
Almond Milk
“Tastes delicious…”
Did you know?
Nothing beats hot chocolate on a chilly evening – but did you know that many of our classic hot chocolates are completely dairy-free? What would your milk alternative be for a truly heavenly hot chocolate?

Like your brew with a splash of milk in the morning, but wary of dairy? Here’s a few tips for drinking coffee with dairy-free milk alternatives:
Cashew Milk
Cashew milk is deliciously creamy: try it with our medium roasts.
Coconut Milk
Coconut milk has a powerful flavour which complements darker roasts well.
Recommended blends: Monsoon Malabar & Café Français
Soya Milk
Try soya milk for a weaker flavour that won’t overpower the taste of your coffee.
Nifty Tip
Darker roasts tend to be better with dairy-free milk, as the flavour is rich enough to cut through.
