What is First Flush Tea?
The first flush relates to the first harvest of the year. During winter seasons, the tea plant goes dormant, absorbing nutrients ready for a vibrant awakening in spring. When the growing season finally arrives, the tea draws on the stored nutrients to produce young, fresh leaves, packed with exceptionally bright and clear flavours, ready for harvesting. This harvest, the first of the year, is known as the first flush and results in a distinctive flavour profile that is highly prized by tea connoisseurs for the purest, clearest flavours a tea plant can produce.
However, the first flush is not produced for very long, making each harvest a rarity. This, along with unique flavours and high demand means every brewed cup is something truly special to be savoured.
