Loose leaf Japanese green tea with toasted popped rice pieces
Nutty, warming and unapologetically unique, our loose leaf Genmaicha pairs steamed green tea with popped pieces of toasted rice.
It's a tea steeped in history.
It began in feudal Japan, where green tea and roasted rice were brought together to create something entirely new. The combination proved inspired, with the rice lending a toasted, nutty warmth that balances green tea's natural freshness beautifully. Hence the name, which translates simply from Japanese as "brown rice tea".
Ours offers a refined take on that original, with popped rice giving the blend a distinctive and unexpected popcorn-like appearance.
We find Genmaicha tends to be a hit with anyone who loves the savoury quality of umami. Or just with tea lovers in search of an adventure.
