A high-grade, sweet and malty Assam loose leaf black tea
Sweet, strong and substantial, this superbly high grade of Assam (also commonly known as Scottish Breakfast Tea) is a beautiful loose leaf black tea ideal for breakfast time.
TGFOP1 stands for Tippy Golden Flowery Orange Pekoe First Grade. The name refers to the standard of the leaves: large, unbroken, and gloriously abundant with golden tips and buds.
The very finest the Assam gardens can offer.
Assam is harvested in four periods known as flushes. Ours is from the second flush of late spring, when the season's warmth draws out the full depth of the leaf's flavour. Rich and rewarding.
Brew it lightly and the tea reveals layered honeyed flavours that develop gently in the cup. Steep it longer and darker, and it transforms into something bolder: a deep, almost treacle-toned liquid that's perfectly finished with a generous splash of cold milk.
One sip and you'll understand why this rather magnificent mouthful doesn't just make the grade; it sets the standard.
