Sumatra Coffee is a rich, dark coffee with a vibrancy that evokes the rainforests of the Indonesian island where it is grown. Full-bodied and packed with flavor, it is a coffee to make you stand up and take note.
The coffee beans are grown on small plots on the shores of Lake Aceh on the northern point of the island, just as they were when the coffee plant was first introduced there in the 17th century. When picked, they are semi-dried in the sun, allowing them to absorb the fragrant and earthy tastes of the land. They are then dark roasted to capture the essence of their taste. The result is a beautifully rounded coffee, filled with the flavors of the rainforest Ð a medley of figs and apricots and exotic sweet flowers.
Sumatra is a lively and exciting coffee, awakening the senses to an explosion of tastes. Best served black to fully appreciate the nuances of the beans, it is a great finish to a meal at the end of the day.
